U12 Alpine Race Team - 4007
Program Overview:
The KSEF U12 Alpine Race Team is the next step for athletes aged 10 and 11 who have successfully completed the U10 program or are driven to pursue competitive alpine ski racing. This program builds upon foundational skills, transitioning athletes from recreational racing towards a more focused competitive environment. Our training curriculum is designed to refine racing techniques, emphasizing advanced ski racing fundamentals, strategic race etiquette, and the development of a strong competitive mindset.
Training and Development:
We provide a comprehensive training regimen that includes intensive gate sessions, advanced skill development drills, and guided free skiing, all aimed at enhancing racing proficiency. Athletes will hone their abilities in both Slalom (SL) and Giant Slalom (GS) disciplines, preparing them for higher levels of competition.
Racing Opportunities:
U12 athletes will participate in the Tahoe Race Series (TRS) and Far West (FW) races. TRS provides a crucial platform for skill development, offering an introduction to the competitive racing environment. FW races elevate the competitive intensity, challenging athletes to apply their refined skills against a broader pool of talented racers.
Program Goals:
The primary objective of the U12 program is to foster significant athletic development, preparing athletes for the demands of the U14 Team. We focus on building a strong foundation in technique, strategy, and mental fortitude.
US Ski & Snowboard Membership:
All athletes participating in this program must have a current US Ski & Snowboard membership in the U12 category.
Pre-season dryland training is also offered on select dates from September to November, enhancing athletes' physical conditioning before the snow season begins.
Required Equipment:
Families are responsible for providing the following essential equipment:
Skis: Two pairs of skis, specifically designed for Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL) events.
Boots: Properly fitted ski boots with a flex rating of 60-80.
Poles: GS and SL poles equipped with pole guards.
Helmet: A hard-ear ski helmet that meets safety standards.
Goggles: Ski goggles suitable for varying weather conditions.
Gloves: Waterproof ski gloves or mittens.
Shin Guards: Shin guards are mandatory for Slalom (SL) training and racing.
Speed Suit (Optional): A speed suit is optional but recommended for racing.
Ski Backpack & Water Bottle: Recommended for training sessions to carry essentials.
Equipment Guidance: It is highly recommended that athletes and their families consult KSEF coaches before purchasing equipment to ensure proper fit and functionality. All equipment must receive prior approval from KSEF coaches before participating in on-snow training.
Get ready to kick off an exciting season with KSEF! We understand that ski equipment can be a significant investment, so we encourage families to explore ski swaps and used equipment markets, especially for growing athletes. Having the right gear is essential for both safety and performance, and our coaches are here to guide you with any questions or concerns.
