As we embark on another ski season, it’s time to gaze into our weather crystal balls and dream big. With the arrival of La Niña, expectations are high for a winter filled with snowy delights. While weather forecasting might feel like shaking a magic eight-ball to predict what’s next, our excitement for the upcoming winter is anything but uncertain!
La Niña Returns: A Snow Lover’s Dream
La Niña’s return is shaping up to bring us some fantastic snowfall opportunities. Historically, La Niña tends to deliver impressive snowfalls across the Sierra, and this year is expected to follow suit. The early signs are promising, hinting at an abundant season that could make this winter one for the books. Think heavy, wet snow—perfect for those legendary powder days we all crave.
Early Storms and Mid-Winter Magic
Here’s what we’re crossing our fingers for: early-season storms from the Pacific Northwest, packing the most glorious base-building #GorillaSnot (or, for you old-school folks, #SierraCement). Following that, we’re hoping for a series of mid-30s storms dropping 10" to 12" of snow to set up the Holidays. After a slight break for families to enjoy the season, we’re ready for #MotherNature and Ole King Neptune to unleash a series of 12 days and 12 nights of #MaNatural #ColdSmokePow.

In our quest to ensure the snow gods are in our favor, JB and Jim Reilly have started working on the KSEF Hard-deck Cloud Seeding Program. That’s right—our very own cloud seeding initiative to bring on the hard-pack snow! They’re actively recruiting "hardpack cloud seeders" to help make these snowy dreams a reality. And for those who crave the carve, rest assured that Jim, Bret, and JB are outfitting their new "POW-Packing" devices to ensure a season filled with epic Hard-pack and carv-alicous turns.
